  • Altered Idea Book

    In our altered books we'll use both acrylic and watercolor paints as well as alternative painting materials (coffee, tea) to create books filled with various techniques that explore one cohesive theme. This assignment can be worked back into throughout the whole tri.

    • Soft Sculpture: Dolls and Puppets

      Students will create a soft sculpture to explore design for 3-D subject matter from initial idea to creation of prototype. Soft sculpture (soft doll, stick style hand puppet or muppet style hand puppet) may be donated to needy children at the end of the project.

    • Typeset Design

      Students will design their own font using principles of calligraphy and design. Students will illustrate their finished type/font on illustration board in ink & prismacolor or ink wash.

        • Final Exam Art Choice

          Create a final exam work of art that addresses a design problem. Examples might include projects like: a 3-D rendering of your Interior Design room proposal; a series of purse(s) (jewelry, plushies, etc.) sketches with swatches and one fully created sample with branding, etc.
